Tattoo’s and Piercings in weird places

I’m not against tattoos, in fact, I have one.  I wouldn’t mind having another one.  When I got mine, my friend, who already had ten at that time, said, “No one can have only one tattoo.”  I wonder how many she has now.  My tattoo was designed by me.  I still love it, and not everyone gets to see it.  I’m not against piercing either.  I have three of them!  Okay, so it’s just my ears!  My reason for writing this now is because yesterday at work, an 8th grade student told me she went with her mom to watch her get a tattoo.  That’s not so bad, a lot of kids tell me they go to watch their parents get one, probably more then you know.  But, while she was there, she witnessed people getting their gums pierced.  OUCH!  I can’t imagine the pain that went with that.  This student said the guy screamed and blood dripped from his mouth.  Her mom got sick!    I watched this child’s eyebrows pinch together as she told me this.  She proceeded to tell me that the guy didn’t even get numbed up.  You know how much a needle hurts when they numb your gum for dental work?  Can you imagine?

Well, I was getting nosy by then, so I started giving my opinion, and asking questions.  I asked her how the heck did it stay in?  I had to ask!  She said they drill a hole to put in something like the back of an earring and you just screw it in there.  And you can’t eat with it in.  I wonder if that is just while it’s healing.  It seems kind of bothersome to have to take your gum stud out every time you eat.  I just kept thinking about how painful that must have been.  It also made me wonder how long it would be before this 14 year old student was standing in line for a tattoo or a piercing in some odd place.  The person doing the piercing had three piercings in his tongue!  One on easch side, and one in the middle.  Ouch, Ouch, and ouch again.

I would like to hear from you if you have something out of the ordinary pierced.  This is for my own curiosity, and nothing more.  Did it hurt?  Would you do it again?   I’m a writer, and you never know when I might need research for a character!  I’d  love to hear from you!
