The plane dropped fast. The last thing Avis remembered before total chaos broke out was the moonlight shining atop the Rocky Mountains. Travis grabbed her hand, but she wrapped her arms around him, bringing him close. Everyone else leaned forward and took the crash position, but they clung to each other. They hadn’t been married two days, and she was five months pregnant. Would it end here? The engines sputtered, trying to turn over; people screamed, and Avis prayed while Travis whispered, “I love you.”
“I’m happy to be your wife, Travis.” She grasped his hand and clung as tight as she could. Would everything be taken away from them now? After all this time of loving each other, why did this have to happen now? Especially now when she carried his child? She squeezed her eyes closed, rage boiling over inside.
“I love you, Avis Van Tine.” He patted her belly. “Thank you…”
